Our Story
Our story began in 2005, when my son, Patrick, and his grandfather, my amazing Dad, handmade a map of the continental USA from recycled license plates. What started as a simple family project drew so much attention in our small second-hand shop that it sparked an unexpected journey.
In 2007, the company I worked for closed. I joined my 80-year-old father, who was turning his license-plate hobby into a small business. Learning to work with metal and wood wasn’t easy. It was messy, dusty, hands-on work, but there was something deeply rewarding about it. I traded my suit and corporate pressure for tools and sawdust, and I never looked back.
We opened License Plate Heaven in May 2011 with a simple goal: to create meaningful, handmade signs that are as unique as the people receiving them.
Today, every sign is made to order. Whether it’s a name for a child’s room, a sign for a man cave, or a special date celebrating an anniversary, we turn recycled license plates into something personal.
We approach each order with the same care that went into that first map my father and son made together. When you choose one of our signs, you’re taking home a piece of our story while making it part of yours.
Thank you for supporting our family’s unexpected second act.
